[medi・K / HEALTH IN NEWS] Lotte Tourism Development (롯데관광개발) is set to relaunch a cruise route connecting South Korea, China, and Japan, marking its ambitious return to the international cruise market after a seven-year hiatus. The company announced today that the new cruise package will depart from Busan on May 17, 2026, for a five-night, six-day journey, visiting Shanghai, China, and Sasebo, Japan, before returning to Busan.

This route, suspended since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, signals a promising revival for South Korea’s cruise industry. The relaunch is poised to recapture the allure of regional travel, offering a unique way to explore East Asia’s cultural and scenic highlights.

In addition to the Korea-China-Japan route, Lotte Tourism Development (롯데관광개발) is introducing another popular itinerary, the Hokkaido Cruise. Departing from Sokcho on May 12, 2026, this five-night, six-day voyage will stop at Otaru and Hakodate in Japan before concluding in Busan. Both cruise packages start at 1.98 million KRW (approximately $1,470 USD) per person for an interior classic cabin.

The voyages will be aboard the Costa Serena, the largest cruise ship operating from South Korea. Set to undergo a comprehensive renovation starting in November 2025, the vessel will emerge with modernized facilities, enhancing the onboard experience. As part of the relaunch celebration, all passengers will enjoy complimentary unlimited drinks, a perk typically offered at an additional cost.

Onboard, travelers can expect a vibrant lineup of entertainment, including live concerts, celebrity shows, and a “Singer King” talent competition. The ship’s main hall, swimming pool, spa, and other key amenities will also receive significant upgrades, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious journey.

To sweeten the deal, Lotte Tourism Development (롯데관광개발) is offering early-bird discounts of 400,000 KRW (about $295 USD) per person for bookings made by November 30, 2025. Repeat cruise passengers can enjoy an additional 100,000 KRW (approximately $75 USD) discount per person.

This revival of the Korea-China-Japan cruise route not only highlights South Korea’s growing appeal as a travel hub but also offers an exciting opportunity for international visitors to experience the region’s diverse cultures in style. Whether you’re drawn to the bustling streets of Shanghai, the serene beauty of Sasebo, or the charm of Hokkaido’s coastal cities, these cruises promise a memorable adventure.
